Recently my 2008 Nissan Altima had to have its CV Transmission (CVT) rebuilt. In researching transmission shops near my home in Arlington I came across SM Transmissions. They are one of the few area shops that are certified to work on Nissan CVTs. They offered a very reasonable price that included free towing within 50 (or 100) miles, lifetime warranty, and the repair would not just rebuild the transmission but would also incorporate any manufacturer upgrades that applied to my vehicle model. My experience with this shop could not have been more positve, both in the results of the rebuild and in how I was treated! Even better they allowed me to see the old transmission that was rebuilt plus, in my case, the torque converter and mounts needed replacing. I was able to visually inspect these and I was only charged for the cost of the parts! The cost was in line with what I would have paid had I bought them. Finally, after having driven the car for a couple of weeks or so I noticed that the car would vibrate during certain speed ranges. I took the car back to the shop and a couple of the mechanics test drove the vehicle to see if the cause of the vibration was related to the transmission re-build. Turns out it wasn't - it was the CVC Joint. The shop offered me a quote to fix the issue and I was amazed at how reasonable the cost was! Throughout this whole ordeal the shop personnel were courteous and very professional. Word to the wise though: If you are accustomed to plush repair shops with waiting rooms with TVs, chairs, complimentary coffee/drinks, etc. you won't find that here. However, if you want excellent service, courteous mechanics, and a sensible, let alone, reasonable price then you should consider SM Transmissions! I know I will! .

This shop is highly rated in my opinion. If you ask me, on a scale of 1 to 10 they are a 99. Not only did they repair my transmission for the exact price they quoted, but also they did it in 2 days. The last time I had a shop repair my transmission it took over 2 weeks and cost twice what they quoted. These guys are over the top if you ask me. This is the second time they have repaired a vehicle for me and they were awesome both times.
I just cannot say enough great things about these guys. Before these guys I could almost never find a shop that would do what they said, for the price they said, and in the time frame they said, and do it right on top of all that. .
I recommend these people to all my friends because they rebuilt the transmission in my Nissan sentry a few weeks ago and they rebuilt the transmission in my husbands Mercedes about 6 years ago and both cars are running really good.They are very timely and their work holds up.I'll definitely use them again.

I was referred here by my repair shop. They said that Auto Transmission Repair was reputable and would not try to sell me anything that I did not need.
True to their word they did not. I went in with pretty much a self-confirmation attitude that I was going to be spending a couple grand to replace the transmission, and they very well could have said, hey you need a transmission job done, because it was skipping hard.
Turns out that the computer system for the gear shifting needed to be reset.
They were polite, honest, and quick to get me in and out of there even as busy as they were.
I even got a call first thing the next morning from Sergio to make sure everything was ok with the car. I recommend this transmission shop over all others in the DFW area.
